Got a gallon glass jar of fish oil with same problem. When you figure it out let us know. Not in a big hurry to open mine, was just going to strain it when I realized I used to be much stronger....
Wish I had more time to trap....

If it is a glass jar with a metal lid you can take a table knife. The dull one you use to butter bread. Hold it by the blade and tap all around the top edge of the lid with the handle part. It will loosen the lid. you may have to do it a few times. Works for me on bait jars 4 ounce to gallon size.

That's the same method I use but with a wood dowel rod or hammer handle
