I rivet aluminum pieces to my old pans through the V if they are Victors, for the larger traps with no collector value I weld a strip to the bottom of the base under the bend where the pan pivots and can then use a double post pan like the Wild River, I use a small copper tube piece to capture the bolt and fill in the space, shim up the tube so it rides as high in the bend as possible. An even faster way (my future endeavor from now on) is to JB weld the copper tube into the bend and be done with it, faster and no welding to be done. The pans work great on my 1 1/2 Long springs.

You got a pic of this? The last part about the JB weld and copper tube. Or have you not done one yet?

I will dig out one of the traps that I welded up, (haven't done the JB weld yet) I know JB weld will hold basically forever and it is faster to apply then cutting a piece of stock and welding it in and shimming the tube lol.

(just tried to grab one but it is frozen into a big ball of a mess after the last snow melt and now back to -4 today) I will get a trap done up with the JB weld this weekend and post the picture.

I am interested about the JB weld also. I got some pans and don’t weld. I was thinking about using jb weld by either smearing a little on the pan then hold the big pan down with vise grips tell it dries. Or just put it in 3 places under the pan like regular welds. I was just wondering how the jb weld holds up to boiling and waxing?

Pop rivets no muss no fuss and If you don't like the oversized pans you can just grind off the head of the pop rivet.

Finally got a trap done with the JB weld, I could only get 1 trap out of the ice ball today without damaging it or any of the other traps, the only thing I would do differently is use a bit more JB weld on the bottom. I filed and cleaned the metal so it was bare and the JB could grab better to the base, that is 1/4 inch copper tube JB welded under the bend and I picked up those trap pans from Kendall (NO-BS Lures)at the MTA last year for a buck apiece, with a Nylock nut on the #10 screw. I can't twist or move the pan side to side, it is very stable and hasn't come loose with repeated setting and firing.

I personally wouldn't trust the JB.It is a brittle epoxy and the steel will expand and contract differently with temperature changes and that can cause failure of a joint.I realize there's not a lot at stake here but I'd personally feel better with pop rivets or weld.

I did something similar on a #4 Vic this winter. I used the original pan after welding the hole shut and re drilled the hole. Then I welded a roll pin under the hump where you j b welded the pan screw. I like the pan you used , it would have made my project easier!
