I see some folks catching hundreds of rats, how do you do it? I've always heard rats are the easiest thing to catch but I can't seem to catch many at all. I've trapped a creek for a few years and tried a few ponds with little success. I've tried bottom edge sets feed bed sets ect but I just can't catch many. Does anyone have advice on increasing my numbers? The ponds freeze up early where I'm at so I want to hit them hard the beginning of this season. I think I'm going to focus on the ponds this year because the Creek I trap doesn't seem to have much rat sign anymore. What's some advice on catching large numbers in ponds and swamps?

Plan for the spring! look around now that theres ice for huts and push ups in creeks rivers and large swamps. Then take a canoe in the spring and set floats baited with carrots or parsnips . Thats were you get volume trapping. but again look for sign or you'll waist your time.

And the most important point I neglected to state. Was you also need access to those rats.

When I mentioned access I meant can you get permission to trap those rats.
