It is surprising how many people have lost trailers, etc. - while in motels in the lower 48. A friend who was moving South from Alaska experienced the same thing.

Even in our current recession, a good carpenter ( especially with finish skills ) always seems to have work and at a good wage. You might find yourself working Spring until fall for cash and then the winters at the cabin. You will figure it out when you get here. Additionally - lodges always looking for caretakers with various skills.

I suspect it will all work out and you will be happy you took the leap.

Scottish/Iroquois, Very Un-Orthodox, hadn't considered preaching either...
