Ill take bitter cold fingers and frozen ground over temperate mud muddy mud cakes any day of the season! Unless I'm trying to trap muskrats- then I'll take "unseasonably warm and mild"...

What a big lesson we learned this season. Waited until mid-December to start trapping, and our sets were immediately overloaded with possums. All the cool cat sets and fisher sets and canine sets had possums, possums, possums to begin with. Who knows how many of our target critters walked by the sleeping possum and thought "Hmmm, that don't look right." This coming season we will set garbage pile bait for possum right off the get-go, using cage traps, coniboxes, and footholds. All those table scraps and stinky junk works on possums first and foremost, and I'd like to think that within a week we will have cleaned out most of them in our area. And then when we get to setting for the primed-up cool stuff, those bottom feeders won't be around to clog up the sets. Tough lesson.

I learned that I know I should be trapping mink instead of canines but am powerless to stop. grin I go with the intention to set a bunch of mink traps but find myself searching out a bunch of canine sign....and of course you HAVE to set it! And for the record, I'm not very good! Only got 7 yotes and 2 reds this year blush
