I see. Knew it didn't seem right. That lock and spring system is totally new to me.

I have 4 of these snares set right now. When i was setting them i decided to see the springs power and let it fire. Man oh man thats a violent little spring. Lot of power in the magnum springs.

My triggers have a #2 on them, just like the one in Spruce's pic.

I used some coarse emery cloth on the spring eye and on the inside of the trigger tip. It seems to do the trick. Thanks Boco.

Here is the difference between the two springs. Magnum spring is quite a bit bigger. Both use a #2 trigger.

Spruce's set-up is correct. I just wrote an article on them and talked to Marty at length. One problem he mentioned is "copy cats"....most of them seem to come from China I guess. Anyway you might have some of those?? Guys have had all kinds of problems with the cheap versions. I buy all mine directly from Marty and have never had a problem with them not staying set. They were originally designed without the trigger and my son still uses them that way and they are deadly. IMO Marty's Stingers are the best trapping device to come along in my lifetime. I'm slowly converting all my snares to this set-up.

Mine are the same width as your magnums.

Do the original spring setters work with the magnum springs?

Yes they do.

Here is a picture of the newer triggers. The ones that stay set. The old style is on the left with no writing on it and the new one with #2 on it works on both the standard and magnum springs. The tine or trigger lip seems a tad bit longer than the old ones also, perhaps 1/64th longer.

Not sure what to say. I had the old style which were very touchy to keep set. Replaces most with the new #2 and no problems. Made some magnum ones also and they work just fine. Perhaps contact Marty Seneger and ask him directly.

Boco's trick of roughing up the mating surfaces with emery cloth seems to work so far. I am waiting on an order of cable to come in to do more testing.
