I just looked at my account for todays marten sale.

My 40 averaged $85.00. My top was $140 for a few. All mine sold.
I'm happy since I had a few damaged on this sale.

Curious if anyone had Lynx on this sale and how they did?

Only had 2 marten there for the action, 1 was good, $78, the other damages and happy I got $28 for it.
Did well on the yotes though, $88.20 avg, the high was $114.
And on the mink with a $21 avg
Didn't look like lynx fared to well.

An average of $85 would be wonderful. I sent my marten to FHA. Anxious for the sale as well.

Nice job with the coyotes HFT. That is awesome. Didn't do to bad myself with the marten. 24 marten averaged $91.21 with the top 6 SEL XXL bringing a high of $124 and the lowest at $60 SDA 3XL-XL. Pretty happy as that damaged one was all sewn up. Wished I'd have started in December.

I was wondering how AK yotes would do. I've got a few to get rid of, may try the next sale. What's the recommendation for sending fur in now, FHA or NAFA? I believe the next sales are in May?

Smalltime T, next sale at FHA still at Northbay, wait next FHA sale to compare both, but spring or late sale is never as good than first big one, on other side marten clearence at 100% at Nafa sale is a good thing.I always lost 15 to 20% on late sale except on fur boom, and we are far of fur boom....lol

If I was shipping fur now, I would go with the NAFA May sale. That is there "big" wild furbsale of the year and should have a good offering of coyotes.

The May FHA sale is their clean up sale.

Strictly speaking about coyotes NAFA is known in the world's fur trade for it's collection of coyotes. This past week's sale again showed how diversified the buying support is with every market in the world represented.
For comparison last May sales
http://www.nafa.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/2017-05-08-WF-ENG.pdf # offered 94,000

https://www.furharvesters.com/results/2017/May/may17us.pdf # offered 19,400

While North Bay is only 4 hrs north of Toronto, there are no international direct flights, no rail connections, either an extra flight in a small plane or the bus and or you drive.
They do try hard to get buyers up there offering a shuttle service.

It looks like the stars are aligned for the May sales this year.

NAFA is May 15-21. FHA is May 24.

Buyers interested in attending both sales can make one trip to Toronto. FHA will provide a shuttle to North Bay to coincide with the end of the NAFA sale. That gives buyers a day or two to inspect goods and then buy at the auction. FHA then provides shuttle service back to Toronto.

For years Teddy Pappas would do the same thing with the ALC sale in Seattle, he would schedule his sale in the same format. I use to try and bribe some of my cohorts to come with me from Seattle to see Western Canadian Sales. I consider myself lucky that I was able to attend a number of Teddy's sales in his old rickety building in Gas Town.
He had without a doubt the nicest collection of arctic wolves.
It was priceless to hear Teddy call out the buyers if he thought they were not paying enough for the marten.

Thanks for the links gibb, so hopefully everybody noticed that NAFA separated heavy and semi grades. FHA combined the two grades for their average. So if
you take NAFA's heavy at 100% clearance with $94.04 average and semi at 81% clearance with 45.22 average you get a combined average with a 90% clearance of 69.13 compared to FHA hvy-semi 90% clearance with a 82.56 avg.. Sooooo am I missing something? according to my wife i've been wrong before.

I guess the answer would be to split your shipment and see for yourself.
Than you would have the facts without the fluff.

Is the takeaway message "send your yotes to FHA"? What do I win?

Not quite: They offered 22,031 Heavies & 38,480 Semi's. Sold 22,031 Heavy's @ $94.04 & 31,169 Semi's @ $45.22. So using your idea the true average would be: $64.22 for all sold skins.

Sometimes it is extremely difficult to understands just what an auction house sales report really means. What the reports don't really convey is the make up of the collection or the important's of the sales location.
Does the offering mainly consist of western type coyotes or eastern type coyotes? Is the offering large enough to attract the major players/brokers or is the collection made up of less desirable sections?
Auction house reports have one thing in common they want you to ship fur.
I used coyotes as my example because I know exactly what the collections for both auction consist off.
For the Helsinki sale you are safe for a North Bay sale not so much. It is up to the shipper to decide.
Without going to Helsinki they would not be able to compete.
Of course this is bases on my opinion, for what that is worth.
