Hey guys,
This is my first year trapping, I've caught a handful of muskrats and one beaver. I'm trapping a new area with tons of Beaver sign but I'm having trouble finding the Muskrat. The snow is still around and the ice is just melting on the ponds but the creeks are flowing. I can't find any Muskrat droppings on logs/rocks sticking out of the water. Is this normal for an area at the beginning of spring? Or does is mean that there are no rats present. Should I just put some 1.5's on the protruding logs where there "should" be toilets and see what happens?

I'd maybe try some bottom edge sets with small body grip traps or colony traps

Don't rule out a float set either.
