Would 28" T-handle rebar stakes work for dry land trapping? If so, will I need any special kind of trap chain set up in order for it to work effectively?

The problem I see Is the chain getting hung up on the tee. That will cause the stake to rotate and get loose so It would be pretty easy to pull.
I wouldn't recommend their use for foot hold use when dry land trapping.

I know a guy who tried them with CRs It was a disaster.

I wouldn't use them that way. It could easily mess up the swiveling action that you want your gear to accomplish, and could pull out as Beav mentioned.

I wouldn't. Pounding on the T with a hammer is a sure way to bend them which leads to breakage.

Best to leave the T stakes to waters where they work great.

Me and my dad have always used 18 in tbar double staked with no problem, they are right tho the heads do break off when pounding into frozen ground occasiobally but ive only had it happen while hammering in not whith animal in, but ive also seen the washers on top break off on other kinds of trapping stakes

If i was you id get 18 tho and double stake instead of the 28 because a single 24 doesnt hold a coyote i know that for a fsct lol so a 28 would be iffy, and pounding ib two 28s sound like a lot of work

All depends on your ground , as far as stake length. I used 18” and 20” smooth stakes here for years before I switched to pogos. That being said I would not recommend a t- bar stake of any length for coyote. I don’t even like the use of a washer by its self on the top of a stake. Washers these days are not made worth a hoot , most of them can’t even be bent without breaking !

When making T stakes you can weld the cross piece about 1" down from the top. Then you won't be breaking those welds. Same with washers welded on to re bar or smooth stakes. Leave about 1" of rod above the washer. Now you have something to pound on and something to get ahold of when removing the stake. And don't buy those coated washers get those black steel washers.
