Toss it in the cleaning pot when your degreasing new traps.

Drop them in a bucket and put some degreaser on them, maybe a cup of the purple stuff. Then add very hot water to cover them up let it sit till the water is bearable to touch and take a dish brush to them for a few min. Dump the water and repeat, then rinse..
They will come out clean. If you have a dishwasher do all of that and then run them through the dishwasher.

I don’t do anything to it. But most of my wire is used under water as in drowning sets.

I rinse it quick in mineral spirits to get the bulk of the oil off, then dish soap and hot water to clean off the MS and whatever’s left.
