I have a Newhouse #50 like the one pictured and I'm wondering if Newhouse manufactured the #50 as pictured. It appears to be missing the front part of the base. Mine is as well.

Modification or turned out that way? Thanks.

I do not believe that it would have been made that way, unless someone special ordered it that way, and I see no advantage to it. The point may have been cut off to make it easier to pack in a saddle bag or a pack sack. They where not offered that way in any catalogs or ads that I have ever seen.

The first pic I posted above I pulled from a thread on this site that dated from 2014. The pics below are of my trap. You'll see the same missing point on the base. When I saw the other trap it gave me hope that maybe mine came from the factory as it is and wasn't butchered later on. I still appreciate the trap for what it is and the condition it's in, just wanted some clarification if any were to be had. Thanks for the input.
