''No subsistence for those living in urban areas.''

That would be according to the Feds, but noy the State of AK.

The state has the stance that All Alaskans are eligible for subsistence hunting/fishing/trapping/gathering, anyhwere hunting/fishing/trapping/gathering is doable.

The Fed laws, however, divide between 'Rual' and 'Urban' and say you must live inthe area you plan to hunt/fish/trap/gather.

With a muskox tag, the state says ''hunt anywhere'', while the Feds say 'hunt only on Fed lands''

Its a twisted double ruling, and we have to be carefull as we go about our doings as to where we are and what were ''qualifyed' to do...

Its been a fight here in AK since the 80's, and is a real pain in the butt.

Caribou there is no State waterfowl subsistence season, the only spring waterfowl season is federal. The state season is the sport season in the fall, which is why there is a specific migratory bird supplement sent out by the feds for their spring season, because it has nothing to do with state. or state vs federal lands.

If you have the right zip code, you can hunt.

My point is that the state recognizes residents subsistence rights apply state wide, where ever that resadent may be, while the feds apply it to the area you reside.
So no flying from Anchorage for a Federal subsistence hunt, either.

Right zip code for federal Migratory waterfowl, I see.

I live intemingled between the Selawik Wildlife refuge, private lands, and state selections, fresh and salty waters, so we pack every type tag or ticket we can get and stamp them together, with this and last years Bird postage.....

I was wrong about the state having a subsitence hunt for the birds, but I am often wrong.
