Jeff, same with pike! Winter pike are extremely good. Summer... not so much!

Les, i never heard it was location specific, we are all muducks wink

Smoked pout would be interesting! I miss smoked whitefish from red! Id really like to try smoked sheefish, i bet they are pretty similar tasting! Smoked lakers are killer. Theres an old smokehouse by the knife if i remember right that is killer!

Yea I got a good laker also that day. Gonna wait till I have a few and make it worthwhile smoking them.

Hope to get another couple this weekend.

Buy a stove top smoker! Do a few pieces at a time, works slick!

I hear the skin tastes like rubber chicken and always get rid of it. Otherwise, we love burbot.

I have a bradley smoker a fried gave me with a burned out element apparently. My mom manages a thrift store and am just waiting till a good hot place comes in and just gonna try that with a cast pan on it. Already have some cherry wood saved. Maybe need to find some alder. Smoking newbie, but my buddy next door did some laker once that was awesome. And he was a newb too.

I wouldn't ever suggest eating the skin, but it needs to be on anything that I smoke, generally.

Hutchy. With the stove top smoker you can smoke indoors and experiment with smoke recipes so you dont end up wasting a few fish no one will eat.

I still have a regular smoker.... my old man gave up with the big smoker preferring to do a few at a time. It is a pretty sweet thing we’ve used over the years. There is a place for having both!

Check it out on you tube. Its very minimal smoke (uses sawdust about 1tbsp per batch) . We dont bother turning the range hood on but you could and it would be more than adequate.

Cameron stove top smoker.
