I'm gonna start turtle trapping this summer to help the duck population and for the meat, I think I'm gonna use scraps from cleaning fish, is that a good bait? And do the big or little ones taste better?

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.

Fish will work but the turtles seemed to like fresh chicken better for some reason.
They also love beaver meat.

I’ve had good results using carp, shad, menhaden, oily fish like that. Chicken is great too with all that fat and oil. I’ve also had great luck with birds with feathers still on and hanging so that it’s in the water as well as being visible on the surface

Personally, I think fresh oily fish is hard to beat.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

If you are going to catch your turtles via a trap, use an oily fish type bait (carp or salmon are the best available in your area). Meat baits do not work well in traps but will work on hook and line. I do not recommend using hook and line as turtles swallow the hook and ones too small to keep may die from their injuries. Eric
