About how high off the floor should the top of the clamps be for raccoon, to keep the head at chest to eye level when skinning ? I stand about 6'. -Thanks

I'm 6 2 and the top of my clamps/ coons rear feet are 2 foot off the floor. This puts the coons head right at chin level for me.

Get rid of the clamps and use a slip noose and the adjustment problem goes away.

16" will put big coons heads right at eye level. You shouldn't need to adjust from there for anything you skin.

Why are the answers so far 16-30”? Different machines?

Different sized trappers I'm assuming. And some that can't or don't want to bend down to make the hook up.

Well ADC makes a clamping machine set up which would be his standard.

Your height would play a part of it but more importantly would be how tall of a ceiling you have available compared to the height of your clamping system. I've seen some that have a horizontal skinning system set up on a table because they have a low ceiling in there shed.

Just have to see what works for you.

That is a 2x sized coon, I'm 5' 11".

Doug is 6' 2" and you see how high the coyotes head gets.

Both skinners are approximately 16" give or take an inch, to the top of the clamps.

My clamp bar is attached to a chain. I have a hook mounted to the floor to hook the chain on. This allows me to have my clamps anywhere from 8" off the floor to 36" off the floor depending on what I'm skinning. I never have to re-clamp the fur. If I need to make a change half way through an animal, I just lower the critter and hook up on a different link of chain.
