I'm starting the process of finding a mnt lion hunt with hounds. My goal would be to hunt between Christmas and New Years in a year or 2. I would like to hunt in WY, CO, ID, MT or UT.

Any guides you recommend or suggest I avoid?

Thanks

I went with Allout Outfitters last April. It’s not a flashy outfit with a big lodge in the mountains. They did work very hard, had good hounds, and were very accommodating during my hunt.

I did a dry ground hunt and we ended up running lions on two different days. We never did get one treed, but it was a great experience overall.

I intend to go back and will book with JT at Allout when I do. Feel free to send me a pm if you like. I’d be happy to give you my number if you have any questions.

Korell outfitters in Idaho. I have bear hunted with them and doing an elk hunt with them this fall. I will be doing a cat hunt with them in the next 5 years. Great dogs and great people. Garunteed boone and crockett cat as well. A few friends of mine have done cat hunts with them as well and were on a call list with them. Meaning when conditions were right be ready to hop on a plane and go. I have had other guys that pic a date and that may handicap you if there is snow and such. PM me if you want anymore info.

If New Mexico is not to far for you I know we have some outfitters here that do lion hunts with hounds. I don't know any of them personally just see some of there stuff on FB.

If it was me, I'd Google "Mountain Lion Hunters Forum" and Cougarhuntingforum.....etc and JOIN and ASK THOSE WITH THE MOST EXPERIENCE.

Scott Swensen , Pines ranch, out of Birdseye Utah, I went with him we treed several lions, got a nice tom. this was right before Christmas. Very good guide. beautiful scenery, saw tons of other wildlife also. weather can dictate the hunt if you have a choice of a 5 or 7 day hunt I would go with the 7 day . due to wind and snow.
