SO I fronted my hard earned cash in November of 2017 for a Gemtec GM-22 suppressor and a Gemtech "The One" suppressor. I got my trust established and all paperwork submitted properly. The gunshop, I bought them from is owned by a law firm that handles the trusts and all the paperwork.
SO after fronting over $1600.00 in cash. Here I sit with probably many more months to go. Although my applications had the new bar codes that are supposed to save the ATF time. My Trust is new and will have to be reviewed and placed on file.
SO anyone else waiting? No way to check the status. Just sit and wait!!!!!!

Sure is a good thing our right to keep and bear arms isn't being infringed or it would be a lot worse.

I refuse to jump through all those hoops to have something that should be easy to have. Come on NRA. The same reason I do not own a pistol or an AR15.

If you dont put them in a trust then technically your are setting your family up for problems. If your single no big deal.
If you leave them in the house or in a car others have access to they are violating the law if they are not on your trust.
If you die your family must contact law enforcement and turn them in or they are in violation of Federal law.
The list goes on and on.
If you use a trust you say who they will go to. If not they get destroyed. It sucks but its the law. Also having multiple persons on your trust allow them to be borrowed or left with someone with no issues.
They can be past on from generation to generation without having to pay a tax stamp again or wait 9 to 12 months to get them.

Worked with a guy that went through all this and it seems it was about 10 months before he got his suppressor.

Bought a DIAS (full auto sear) many years ago took like 9 months for it to hit the class III dealers store a dealer to dealer transfer is $5 if I went and transferred it to me the transfer stamp was $200. We had just bought a place on the lake and I needed a steel building more then a ammo eating AR.
If I had kept it the last time I checked the value had tripled in 10 years many Class III weapons are investment for some folks just like gold or sliver is.

The idea of having a simple piece of steel set aside as an investment for rich snobs solely by government protectionism should rankle any modern patriot.
*I feel I must clarify. I do not think the $200 tax stamp needed for a suppressor limits them to rich snobs. However, in 1933 when the $200 tax stamp was made law, it was only for rich snobs. While a tax stamp is easily financially attainable (because of inflation), the price of automatic weapons of class blah blah blah are hugely over priced because of lack of supply. The supply is artificially kept low by protectionism and taken advantage of by investors who-once invested-have a pretty keen interest in keeping the government protectionism in place. They look like weapon enthusiasts on the outside, but are only enthusiastic about their privilege.

What stops a guy from making his own, in the legal sense ?

No one in their right mind was going to lay out a month's wages for a tax stamp to get (or keep) one. Mike

In 1934 I doubt very many people owned an auto like thompsons 45 or brownings 06. Some people did though. Some also owned suppressors. I very seriously doubt if everyone that owned one either tossed it in a creek or paid the 200 dollar fine. Since they were 100% unregistered and untraceable I can't help but wonder how many are still out there. Has to be several thousand unlicensed unregistered automatic rifles and pistols. Its a wonder any of us are still alive to talk about it with so many evil hidden guns in America.

I’m pretty much in a perpetual state of waiting for some NFA item or another. The last SBR Form 4 I did on a trust took 15 months to be approved. I’m currently on month 2 of another SBR Form 4 on my trust. Seems like the individual form 4 are right around 8 or 9 month wait while the trusts are around a year.
By the way your NFA items do not get destroyed when you die if they’re owned by an individual. They can be transferred to your heirs tax free on an ATF Form 5 (5320.5).
