Have trapped coons in town. Cage traps and old rolls for bait. Used rolls to cut down on catching skunks that would become offensive in town especially down wind. Took the caught coons out to the country and released them.

Thank you for the info, backroadsarcher!
How would you catch foxes inside town limits?

Snare set to hold alive(cable restraint).Non targets can be released if set properly(no entanglement).Check sets twice a day, morning and evening.

If you use a smaller cage trap, coons will like it, but dogs may not be able to squeeze in it.

Any set that will take a Fox is just as likly to catch a dog as well as a lot of cats

Your best bet when trapping in town is use sets in targeted area of high activity that are non target friendly ( IE no connibar or snare with lethal locks) if targeting coon/skunks use DPs where possible and for K9s if you have them padded jaw traps

I know a good laminated trap is just as good but the padded jaw ones are public friendly and good PR something that you have to keep in the forfront or your thoughts when dealing with town dwellers

Go talk to your city, town, township and county boards to find out if your choices of equipment meet their requirements. You may need a license or licenses, very specific training and maybe even journeyman or higher (legal) status before doing what you’re proposing. Then look into methods of removal and equipment.

Is this something that you would like to if you had the opportunity, or is there a town or city that you know of that has problems and wants help, or are you wanting to help a person with nuisance wildlife problems that lives in town? What species of animal(s) are you talking about?

What teacher says applies in many areas, but not in Texas.

Just something I'm hoping to do. I'm bored without trapping. I'm hoping to trap mainly coons and skunks but also foxes, bobcats and the such if the need arises.
