Just curious of these 2 - 5x5 traps which one do you guys prefer.. I have some Bridger 150's, just thinking might try some BMI.
Does the BMI spring still slip around the corner? A friend had some that did that, that was a bit of a pain to fix all the time.

Well it's hard to beat the triggers and extended wires on the BMIs. I wish they were magnum jaws, though.

CTM 5X5 is the finest on the market in that size IMO. Probably only need to go that route if you are targeting fisher, skunk or coon though.

I have some 150s. I didn't think they were difficult to set. I just didn't like the short trigger wires is all. And I got a lot of empty snapped traps for some reason I can't figure out.

The Bridger 150 mags are a great trap. just gotta make sure the dog is fully engaged in the notch when setting. I extend the trigger wire with 1/16th 1x19 with a double ferrel. Mink death!

I have the BMI 115s. Good trigggsrs, overall I like the traps.

Really like the trigger wires.

Don’t care for the square jaw corners. Wish they were magnums.

Did Bridger change the size of the spring eyes? Heard a lot of guys where complaining about that , especially on the 155.

Springs are either to big on dukes or to small on bridgers, were kinda picky...

I have a few 150's some are older, springs seem weak, when compared to new ones?

For bottom edge sets try the bridger 159 it's a 160 single spring

The 159 is the perfect BE, TE trap, they are not Mags, 150s for dry trails. The small spring eyes is why the jaws have full closure. Good job Taximan. nice Buck!

I have BMI's and Bridger. I much prefer the BMI's and will be selling the Bridgers. The dogs on my brand new Bridgers do not fit into the dog. I started to file the dog notch but do not have a small enough file. I am sure to the Caven's credit that they are good traps and many dogs have been cut. Maybe my traps were made on a Monday...... Not happy with mine at all and they are still brand new.

Mr Ed,I bought 2 dozen recently and all the dogs were like that. The trigger notch was too narrow for them to seat.It did force me to do some filing and to tune the triggers and dogs and that's something I often neglect.I do see why people gripe about them but the few that I set,do catch stuff.I do like BMI body grippers but have never owned the 5x5's.

I would have thought MTP would have caught that by now. Mine are 3 yrs old and still hanging up.Not worth my tinkering.

IMO, the Bridger #150 is worth tinkering a bit with if that's what's needed. I've replaced all my #110s with #150s and it is an ideal trap for the KB stabilizer in bottom edge situations. #110s don't fit the KB like a #150 does.
