For everyone that has experience with this size, would anyone comment on what they thought was the best/not best and why. I'm thinking mink, but with the good possibility of an otter sticking its nose in.

Dukes seem to work well on coon for me

My first pick for 160 would be BMI. They have a factory 4 way trigger that’s much better than other brands I’ve tried, they’re easy to set, and the price is perfect. They’re my first choice for a mink trap, and, for me at least, they have handled coon and otter just fine.

They’re like $90 a dozen through BMI. There may also be a magnum version available at this time, and I’d probably choose those if I had a choice.

I like them

I like dukes for rats if you take a spring off making them a single spring. I also take off the safety latch. They have solid triggers, longer springs and good eyes for a stock 1 by 2. Priced fair.

Aix,
since I posted this I bought a dozen new Bridger 160's off the trap shed. Do you know if the BMI triggers retrofit on to other brands? Are aftermarket triggers for any body gripper size specific? I have some unknown brand of 220's I purchased at auction a while back that need new triggers? Anybody else feel free to chime in.

I don't know if any are bad, but I know the Belisle is great

I too like the BMI 160s. They made me a bunch of the single spring 160s upon asking. Very smooth triggers...especially for the smaller critters.

3 togo....MTP combo triggers are nice triggers. Close tolerance too. Not the sloppy aftermarket junk we have all ordered and hated.

BMI single spring 160s. None better in my opinion.

I have not tried BMI triggers on Bridgers, but I have put BMI triggers on a couple Dukes. Work fine. I’ve swapped and/or replaced triggers and dogs on multiple brands and sizes, and it’s been my experience that triggers seem to fit other brands of the same size. What I would look at is the bridger jaw. If my memory serves me, the bridger has thicker jaws, which may be problematic when adding a trigger from a brand with a smaller jaw. BMI and dukes have about the same size.

What makes you want to replace the bridger triggers? You can change the wires and make it a 4 way while still using the bridger trigger

I may not need to change those triggers, maybe just tune if needed. I have another brand coming used that may or may not need work.
Calvin, thanks. I will look at those for the 220's I have that need repair.
