One of the supply houses have 1.5 Duke coilsprings on sale for $52.95 a dozen.
I only own Victor/Onieda and Northwoods coils. I am wanting to add a couple dozen and I am curious about the opinion of which way to go. I don't think I can buy used Victors as cheap as new Dukes.
Opinions please.

Some guys love the Dukes, somehow I ended up with nearly a dozen 1-3/4. They feel like they were made out of recycled sardine cans to me, very lightweight and the metal has a different sound when they snap shut.
I would hold out for used victors from better days. Replace the springs and you are set.

One thing about it though the Dukes are affordable and people catch fur with them.

I bought a dozen 1.5 dukes and ill tell ya like it is.the jaws dont line up on most of them. The pan is off center, but they will hold rats fine. And thats what i bought them for.i would buy them again to run on rat polls but thats about it.

I sold all my Victors and northwoods when I started using the Duke 1.5s. They just hold critters better.

Mine are used for coon and rats. They do a great job on both...but I change the pans out (personal preference).

I love my 1.5 dukes. Run a couple hundred of them and will be adding more this season like always. I bought a few dozen more last year at the convention for $45/dozen. I trap coon, mink, and rats with them. Have no problems with them.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

Duke 1.5 and the Duke 160 we're probably that makers best traps. If you are long-lining rats or coon those are cheap fur takers.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

For me, Duke 1.5 is THE coon foothold for water sets.

I have been running blake and lamb 1.5 longsprings for the past couple years and were not too impressed with them. This year I switched over to duke 1.5s and they worked great. My amount of chew outs and pullouts went down a lot and I just plain out held a lot more coons. I ended up buying 100 more of them because I found a place that had them for $3.00 a piece. After I bought 100 of them, they realized their prices were off or somethin and they haven't had them since. If I had the money, I would go with the no bs 1.5s

The Duke 1-1/2 coilsprings are great traps, for their intended purposes.

I use Duke 1 1/2 for my coon, rat and mink trapping. I put the RK web's on the jaws or order double jaws. They work very well for me. I use that same trap for fox trapping as well with no issues.

It's a personal opinion and what a person wants or has to spend on them. IMO

New Dukes for me. I have tried used traps and end up fixing mistakes of the previous owners.

The 1.5 Duke coilspring is the one trap that company got right.

The Duke 1.5 is pretty darn good on fox too.

I've caught piles of coon, rats, mink, and foxes in duke 1.5 traps. I don't think I'll ever buy another water trap save for larger animals.
