Majority of the coyote guys down here use chicken leg quarters

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

I prefer natural prey for canine bait as there is a possibility' although slim, that domestic stock used as bait could encourage depredation on domestic stock,

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Have not had good luck using any chickens for bait or as attractants for canines (and we raised chicks and sell eggs on a small scale with 20-30 hens--- my organic tick/insect control). All dead ones go in the "Bait Freezer". Too much natural food for them to investigate is my guess. When the winter weather gets bad (lots of snow) the coyotes will come close to our place and pick-off a rooster (crowing gives their location away) so I have used some chickens and caught a few coyotes coming in close here. Have never had much success using them during the fall and normal winter conditions in typical sets. Now for mink (fresh) or (tainted) for everyone's favorite (opossums and skunks) they are hard to beat!

A good many of the coyotes I’ve caught (which isn’t very many) have been on a raw chicken thigh with a barn spike to pin it down. Several bobcats too. Then again, most of those were trapped to end their chicken killing sprees, so I’m sure that helped. In hot weather it’ll get nasty fast without a preservative, but in cooler weather it works well for me. With or without feathers spread around the set

Where I live, we have fire ants out of the wazoo. Something I’ve done that helps is if I’m planning to trap a logging road or wherever, ahead of time I’ll kill the fire ants in the areas around where I’ll be making sets. They’ll leave nothing but bones in no time if I don’t
