Not a dogwood. Something in the magnolia family. Dog wood just has four. People from the good ole days said the dogwood represented the cross on cavalry that OUR lord and savior died upon.

City of Olathe KS (Kansas City) has a bunch of them planted in the median on Lone Elm street. All bloomed out right now. Drive by with the window down it smells a lot like the magnolia in the S.E. part of the country. More bush than tree though unlike in the S.E. and they have smaller flowers. I've no clue what its actually called.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
