Howdy fellow trappers!
I have access to a lot of calf-fries. Would that make a good bait if a mixed it with bait solution? Anyone ever eaten or used them? We eat them fried with batter. Ain't to tasty.

I wouldn't waste perfectly good calf fries for bait. Good eating in my book. Dipped in seasoning and slow fried for us.

Yeah don't waste them for bait. I did save them from about 6 deer this fall. Im going try this winter. They definitely have a unique odor tainted.

No, to good to eat to waste as bait. Battered and deep fried, doesn't get much better than that.

I ate them for dinner 3 times last week. It would be a shame to use them for bait

Never heard them referred to by that name before, sounds like bait to me.

So when you castrate pigs are those piglet fries?

We still cut on the ranch. If we can't eat them all they are great to give away to land owners who let me trap/hunt 😀

Trick is to cook them until just done and no more. A bit too far and they get rubbery. Many farmers and ranchers here consider them a on par with ribeye!
