Got a few episodes in over the long weekend- enjoyed it thoroughly! Thank you! We have seasons 1, 2 and 3 and 9 episodes of season 4 uploaded but they have only managed to publish seasons 1 and 3, no idea why! LOL Hopefully they get the rest up soon.

A good percentage of snared lynx die with a full belly= Green Belly. Also a dead snared lynx cant protect itself from mice. Is 1/16 overkill for mice?

If your getting shrews eating them you are leaving them too long. I snare all my lynx at mini jackpots and never get any scavenged.Lots of times get multiples at the jackpot. Green belly is not a defect so why worry about it,unless you have a weak stomach, lol.

Mice can find a dead lynx on the first night. MAybe the reason you don't get any lynx scavenged is because you don't have nearly as many down in your neck of the woods as we do here? Got to remember that different places have different conditions and different conditions leads to different behaviors from the animals. I wont say anything about your trapping area because I can honestly say I wont have a clue what Im talking about.

Fair enough. Here lynx are cannibals. I thought when it was mentioned that the lynx were being lost it was to other lynx, not mice. Gang setting with snares takes care of that here, and will get you multiples fairly often. Shrews can be bad here if you leave stuff too long(like 10 days or more),they drill a little one inch hole and eat out all the innards. Never had a lynx clipped by mice or squirrels, but marten on the ground will get a brush cut. Its interesting the differences in other areas.I notice you have a very high density of lynx in your area,I'm surprised they don't cannibalize.

They eat each other here too. I caught 5 out of 6 once and that one lynx ate all the others back legs.

That's why we set jackpots with lots of snares.
