I use to use them for drowning weights on my beaver traps. I just long chained my foot holds at that time.
A beaver will drag that weight out to deep water but It won't be able to swim long with It on the chain. We had at least 2 swivel points between the trap chain and where we attached It to the main chain. The weight was attached on the main chain.

It kind of depends on the size of them as to how you use them.

Drags for coon/mink. And as Beav stated weights for long chain beaver. I grab every one I come across.
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..

It kind of depends on the size of them as to how you use them. I saw them but haven't taken possession of them yet. They are larger than what I had seen in the past as most of them looked to be over a foot long.

Get em and then worry about how to use them. You will come up with some use. LOL

Remember reading about a trapper whose main system was a #11 3-5 of chain and a window weight. Think mink and coon was his main deal. The mink would take the chain and drown while coon would drag it is and not tear up the set Back east I had used railroad plates for the same way, but with #1 1/2 coils.

Use em for a canoe/kayak anchor when fishing
Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.
