This one was on my Jeep door handle this morning. Would you call it a Wolf Spider?

I’d call it an accident the vehicle caught fire when I sprayed the 5 gallons unleaded spider repellant on it!

It's a lot like a wolf spider . I thought they are a little darker colored up here in my area.

It kind of looks like a schnauzer.

It is a "Jumping Spider" and it could be one of several types, there are pics at the linked reference that show several resembling yours. Zebra Jumper, Tan Jumper...need other viewing angles to be sure.

Three rows of eyes for a total of eight? Many different (about 200 known species) kinds of wolf spiders, yours looks like one to me.

I'm pretty sure I would call it a dead spider.

tjm, a wolf spider has a different body shape. Take look at the common form of the various species of wolf spider here:
https://www.google.com/search?q=wolf+spi...360&bih=617

The jumping spiders, like Jonathan's, are somewhat different and you can see the commonalities in body shape here:
https://www.google.com/search?biw=1360&a...1.0.1g4y3i7QV_A

ETA: The more I look at Jonathan's spider, I more believe it is a Zebra Jumper.

E.Shell, Thank you for the comparative references. My Jumping Spider appears to be a female.

Regards,

Jonathan

My post was meant as a query ...
4 eyes 1 row = jumper (I think) I'm not good with pictures really and the perspective gives me little idea what the shape is. Glad you figured it out and got the good info to Jonathon. smile

She's a cutie.

The wolf spiders I saw while working in the South Dakota Badlands were about the nastiest looking spiders I've ever seen. They sure didn't look like the one in your picture.

Whatever you do, don't smile. If they see your teeth, you'll die.
If you are from NC or WV, this does not apply. You won't die if it sees your tooth. smile
