I have a rhythmic tapping sound in my attic. Very intermittent. It's definitely in the attic. I searched every inch of the attic. I don't see any nest, or any droppings.
Is there any animal that would make a rhythmic tapping sound, then stop ? Maybe on the roof ?

Also make sure there's not a limb or something making contact somewhere.
If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Now I'm pretty sure it's a Wood Pecker. I saw him twice on the fascia board. Not pecking for insects, but a mating call. That's why the rhythmic pattern from the limited reading I did on them.

ok, definitely a wood pecker. Serious damage to the fascia & wood trim. How do I exclude him? Being that I can't shoot a protected bird.
If I replace the wood trim with Azek, would he come back ?
