Anyone here deer hunt area 105 in MN? Looks like there’s some monster whitetails down there I’d like to go after during archery this year. Lots of public land in that area?

You need to ask where to go hunt in a different state besides MN then the MN boys would be answering your question. I don't think they want you there. LOL Come on tell the man where to go and the ins and outs so he can hunt MN. LOL
With over 100 looks and with all the MN people on this site many had to be MN lookers and one that wanted to help. LOL

I can't comment about hunting pressure as I live a couple hours away and don't hunt there. I can tell you there are a lot of deer. Size wise I have no clue. I suppose it's like anywhere else Here is a good link that shows the permit area boundaries and most of the public land. There is quite a bit of public land up along the border in varying block areas. Don't over look the ones to the west of 105 and there are some big bucks taken in the northwest angle. Also be aware that not all land inside of a state forest boundary are public. I would think that 105 will be a 2 deer block this year, only one of which an be a buck.

Snowy--you never cease to amaze me in your anti-Minnesota antics. First off--not all those that look--are from or hunt in MN.--you looked--do you hunt here? You looked -did you answer the question. I looked and would answer the question, but I have to find a copy of the regulations. With all the numbered hunting zones for deer in MN.,its hard to remember where they all are ,unless you hunt that zone.#105,doesn't that give you some idea,as to the numerous areas??? Thanks Steven, that must be Les' area. Only 350 different numbered hunting areas. I am sure someone on here can memorize all of them. But not me. Tom

349 would be a better choice, if you could find a place to hunt. More and more state land every year but it gets hunted hard. Every year Boone and Crocket bucks are killed here, 150 bucks on every farm. For a big buck it would be better but the guy probably wants to drive home at night.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I live less than an hour away from area 105, that’s why it’s my choice of area to hunt. Rat Masterson, 349 is kinda too far for me to hunt lol. Literally the furthest area in the state from me haha! 105 is close enough for me to go do an evening hunt and get back home at a reasonable hour to still get a good nights sleep! Lost river area has some very nice deer public ground,105 has more private farm land than anything,111 is south of 105 with LOTS of public ground state forest to hunt big woods.I live in 105,send me a pm if you any questions, hope this helps a little. Thanks rick! I was looking at Lost river state forest on google maps and thought it looked pretty good! I want to go down there and do some scouting and maybe setup a few trail cams to see what’s around. 111 could be an option, I’ll look into that area too! Is there a lot of hunting pressure in the lost river forest? I plan on only hunting archery early in the season. I definitely want to get out of there before the rifle hunters start, I hear there’s an army of them lol. Thanks Steven! I imagine the deer to be the same as we have here since I’m only like an hour away. If I could shoot a 3 1/2 year old buck that’s atleast 120” I’d be really happy with that! I’ve heard about much bigger ones from northern MN though. I’m looking at maps and trying to mark some spots I’d like to checkout in person. I’m getting really excited about this!

LOL Come on tell the man where to go and the ins and outs so he can hunt MN. LOL I'm not anywhere close to 105 area,. Don't even Know where it is in this "State" But maybe Us Mn. Boys as you lump us All together; just have no information that could possibly help. I myself Would Never Spend money to Try and Come to Minnesota to hunt...If I wanted To deer hunt for real, I'd do all I could to get to just about anything other State or province. Seriously Snowy. Mn. Is Not in my book as a destination State. 330, aren't you a Wisconsin boy ?

He can hunt MN for deer all he wants ya moron. He'll have great opportunities to shoot one too if he is willing to fill his doe tag. JP here is a good link that shows the deer zones and most of the public land in them. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/deer/map.htmlPersonally, I'd look west of 105 and not south like 111. 111 is mostly forested and bog areas. Tremendous amount of public land but less deer. Where are you crossing the border at?
