Thought I would share this with everyone: On June 9th the Fur Institute of Canada presented me with the Jim Bourque Award at the AGM held in Kelowna for my contributions of over 45 years to the Canadian fur industry. Thank you fellow trappers and the fur industry from the bottom of my heart. As a trapper I was honored as well as humbled to receive this highly prestigious National award. Humane trapping, trappers education, animal welfare, sustainable use of wildlife resources, and stewardship of the land are a passion for me.

Congrats Ron! Jim Bourque was from NWT I’m pretty sure.

Yes Jim was the Deputy Minister of Fish and Wildlife for NWT. I had the pleasure of working with him on the Fur Institute Board of Directors back in the 80's.

Many thanks for your life thus far dedicated to trappers, trapping, and most of all, to the resource. Another 60 years?

Thank you fellow trappers for your kind congratulatory remarks. I will continue to pursue, wherever I can, promotion of our fur industry, through public education, trappers education, promotion of improved trapping systems and better pelt preparation.
