This appears to be a "true bug" that showed up near my brush piles today. The total length from snout to wing tips is approximately 3/4 inch. Thoughts would be most appreciated. I can't seem to locate it in my reference guides.

The photos were taken with flash.

Regards,

Jonathan

You heard of inch worms?
You got you a three quarter inch bug. smile
Yours is more real than an inch worm, since an inch worm is not a worm at all.

Looks like an assassin bug to me...or an assonated bug in my yard. I'm a bug killer.

You can see the front claspers and the pointered beak for withdrawing the victims juices
Look for the spittle on the plants in the garden and that is wher the larvae are
