A few show up in daylight. I see this one very seldom in the warm months. They spook easily if you spot one landed and get too close. This is my first decent photo of this species taken Wednesday afternoon. It has an odd name - Virginia Ctenucha.

Do you have them in your region?

Jonathan

They are somewhat common here Jonathan. Active day or night too. If I remember correctly, the common name is Yellow Collard Scape Moth (or Orange Collared???)

I don’t think I’ve seen that particular moth. The amount of different species of moths is amazing. We live right in the middle of the woods. Every night we get different species that come to our lights around the house. Sometimes they stick around until morning. The kids and I always are surprised to see the different colors and types. They are some of the prettiest things. Nice picture. Maybe my kids would like to start photographing all the different insects and animals around. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I smile every time I see you have posted another.
