Are mink more shy than other critters that follow those dry trails along ditch banks? Will body grip traps traps that catch skunks, possum, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, ground hogs, etc also catch mink ( if they are there ) when set at the same locations, same trigger set up? Thanks!

I like a waxed 160 for a blind trail set for mink.
They take rats and even incidental otter.

A 110 under the overhanging grass against the side along a small creek is deadly on mink, even its completely dry under there.

I use larger when targeting skunks/opossums/chucks than when trying for squirrels, mink, and chips.

To answer, probably, but there are different trigger set ups at times......pans for instance.

5" spread inside from the trigger down to the opposite jaw is the biggest legal on dry ground in Ohio. Best thing to do is to find the spots just big enough for the trap and where they can't jump over. Though I've caught some in in slipped banks with no guiding but who knows how many I missed setting like that.

I use the Bridger Mag 150s and 110s for dry trails for all those. Very seldom do I have a live one, even coon. All with bell shaped triggers ( ) . Most of my mink catch are with dry trails. the rest a combo of BE and TE sets. Very few paw holds. Set the BGs dry in the center of the trail with the trigger wires dead center and the bottom jaws 2 fingers of the walking surface, like a snare with jaws. There not shy at all as long as it doesn't appear to be an obstacle, all they need is an obvious hole. Helps alot to start the trigger so it barely moves when their face touches it.

Thank you all for the replies, I love sitting the trails but keep catching more non mink than mink. I will take all your input and keep working at it.

Remember...For dryland mink you need a magnum jaw. Even a big male mink can breath just fine in a non closed jaw bodygrip on dry land. If you don't like catch circles and live mink in your bodygrips. Learned that the hard way.
