I remember it was an entire photo tutorial. John, I did just that and it didn’t return any results. I’ll try it again though. The Search didn’t return any results but I found it by just looking for a post by Lazarus. That’s a pretty good recipe. I think that it was on the second page if anyone is interested

Your lucky, I wrote it down you should do the same. memory gets worse with age! Here you go 1. Buy 4 lbs of cheap bacon ends and pieces grind them to the consistency of burger meat 2. get two lbs of lard keep this equasion 3.one cup of honey for every 4 lbs of bacon 4. 2 oz of ground castor. On medium heat cook bacon till almost done. Once cooked add lard and honey heat till completely melted. Let cool add in castor,4 ozs glycerine 1/2 cup of sodium benzoate. Jar and keep cool till season P.S thank you laz for this killer bait recipe simple and perfect as is

I read the entire thread to find the answer, but I have one question. Do you remove the bacon grease once the bacon has cooked or do you let that in there and add the lard in ADDITION to the grease?
I'm assuming that you leave it because that wasn't specifically addressed, but still the question remains.
Also, I did think that the "why not just buy sausage instead of bacon to grind" question was a good question. Now don't get me wrong, I know that we can try absolutely anything that we want. It's a recipe that anyone can make their own.

Laz stacks up the greys so I’m thinking it must be working.
Tom
I know that is the reason I want to try it. Especially when a guy can go through a couple of gallons of bait a season. It's cheaper. And to be honest, who or what wouldn't like bacon? Amiright? LOL

Yes Laz says to freeze it but I never seen any ill effects from leaving it on the shelf. I've even carried it over till the next season. F.Y.I it will hammer more than just greys! It can and does do a bang up job in d.ps as well. Honestly I don't think theres a land furbearer that can resist it! When I make it I do a triple batch. It cares over fine the bacon settles to the bottom, during high temps but never once did a batch go rancid
