I have several dozen 220s and 330s that will be used for beaver and otter this year. I'm gonna paint the majority of them grey, and the rest brown and green. I meant to buy flat rustoleum, but accidentally got satin. Do I need to return the satin and get flat, or will satin still work ok? I'm worried that it'll be too glossy and reflect light just making my trap stand out more. Thanks

I can't give a good answer, I know they will h as very a slight sheen, not shiny. If it's not a big hassle I would return the paint. Don't forget the acetone to thin it down.

I usually go with flat spray paint. I'm not sure if the satin would make a difference but I prefer flat.

Since I usually blend them in a bit, I wouldn't worry about it.
Plus I usually dip 1/2 of each trap tan and the other 1/2 green

I'd return it and get rusty metal primer. Mix it roughly 50/50 with mineral spirits. Maybe a little more paint...say...55/45. That's been a great combo for me for several years.

Once they dry take a few cans of flat camo paint and paint lines through them it breaks up the overall contrast I do mine very similar I do a +,x,o all different colors they blend in surprisingly well. I don't believe shine bothers furbearers all that much. Not as bad as a jet black trap in clear water. Ive witnessed first hand rats and beavers avoid black traps in clear water

Same as Aix and USMC, only i use acetone for the thinner, It evaporates way quicker than Mineral spirits or xylol. Dipping covers better than spraying.

I dip mine as well. Has any one ever tried adding hardner into their mix? It seams like it might help it combat the spring area scratch off problem. But i'm no paint expert! You can even use latex mixed 50/50 with water on conis. It holds up better than you would imagine I did all my water traps last summer in a olive drab latex mix. In water they disappear!

I think you will be fine with the satin color. I have set brand new shiny 330's for beaver and caught them. I guess it depends if your set is above the water line of below it.

I used one can of flat brown primer last year to spray down a dozen conis. Caught a few beaver with no issues.

I figured next time I would die them though, seems like it would be faster
