A great go to Fox trap that definitely won't break the bank is the bridger 1 3/4. They come baseplated and center swiveled and will hold coyotes.

Well that was a lot of help wasn't it! Yes! If you go bigger or heavier than a 1.5 coil anybrand you can just use what you already use for coyotes. Any coyote trap will hold a fox just fine if nothing goes bad. As mentioned above the heavy traps are not grey fox friendly. Very tiny very fragile bones coupled with super energy often doesn't work out well. That also applies to the double-long-springs what ever size/brand because of the torque provided by the wings. When fox were all I targeted I ran only #1 long-springs, 1 1/2 Victor coils and 1 1/2 Montgomery StepIn. If retooling for fox today I'd probably use the coil 1 1/2 Vics & Vic Monty, the 1 1/2 Dukes I've used were a bit too powerful for greys imo.

You may also want to take a look at the 1 1/2 Montana. It is well made, with foot friendly jaws, good chain, and comparably priced. Check them out at Fur Country Lures.

1 1/2 Montgomery's. Or the older 1.75 Victors. Both with good springs. No need for 4 coil.

I am going to be trying the Bridger #2 Dogless 2 coiled and laminated on them this season with a swivel on each end and two in the middle of the chain. If they don't work out I don't know what I am going to try next. Might just buy more 450's.
I am trying to find a multispecies trap that will be good for fox, cats, and coyotes. Not an easy bill to fill.

I know a fella in Eastern Pa that uses #2 victors and catches quite a few.

Best fox trap is the one that has a fox in it when I get there.
I use MB-450 offsets. I usually only trap private land. If I was worried about theft I’d probably go with Bridger 1.5 or 1.75 offset. I’ve used some victors with laminations and I just don’t like them.
I’ve used double jaw duke 1.5’s and they worked great.
I don’t know your trap laws, but we have to use offset laminated or padded jaws on land with traps over 4”.
If duke made a 1.5 offset I’d probably buy a bunch. We have very few coyotes here, so almost no worries about them.
Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Around here a good Fox and multi- species trap is the Sleepy Creek 1.75 coil.
This particular trap isn't so big that it scares the crap out of the public if they should happen upon one, and the dog men don't put a price on your head if you catch fido.
I like the old round pan, regular jaw model...Not terribly expensive, and very durable - Great trap.

Duke 1.5 coils with lams and inline swivel. Cheap and easy to put in. They work like a charm in south Alabama and haven’t had a coyote pull out yet. Don’t know about those fox up north though. Seeing some of the pictures of them on here you’d think they found a batch of forgotten steroids somewhere.

My favorites for fox are mb 450s.Get really good full foot catches. They are pricey tho.Iv held fox in Duke and Bridger 1.5s just fine and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.I love snares even more tho.I use both.

Sold off 5 doz. MB450's in favor of my old lam'd or OS 1.5's... Vics, Dukes, Montgomery's, Montana's, and Bridgers... never got used to the MB's. My Montana and Montgomery's are the best built but almost too strong for fox here... Good old Duke 1.5's laminated with 16 penny nails and 2 dbl. swivels are hard to beat IMO...
