My favorite all purpose seasoning is no longer available. It was called Dewitts and was out of Louisiana. It was low on salt content and was very good on everything. The fella that sold it passed away and I was told his family wasn't going to produce it anymore. Trying to find a good replacement and everything I try is too salty. What is everybody's favorite All Purpose Seasoning?

"Tastefully Simply" Seasoned Salt.

I know a few that once tried it, will never buy anything else...including me.

Have to order online most places, though...but seems to be todays shopping world anyhow.

If I had to pick it would be Tony's or Old Bay. I generally don't use them. I like to do it myself. Like you said they all seem to have too much salt.

Harley's, they are in Texas. The only thing I don't like it on is Jell-O. I order it a half gallon at a time. Awesome stuff.

Lawrey's is good on everything. Jane's Krazy Mixed UP Salt - on pork, is terrific.

Uncle Chris’s gourmet steak seasoning. You can thank me later. I use it on everything, literally

Should be able to get it at Walmart, here’s a link to it from academy I think

If a piece of meat is so bad that it needs more than salt it’s time to kill a different steer !

Thanks for the help. People use seasoning on things other than a steak. Such as frying back strap, eggs, soups, stir fry, fish, and I could continue.

I use Lisy Fajita Seasoning on lots of stuff. Cracker Boy and Cracker Girl are good all purpose seasonings as well.

Salt, pepper, red curry paste, lime.

The problem with most "all purpose" seasoning is that they have lots of MSG, yuck.

I put my low sodium homemade salsa on my eggs, spuds, meats, salads and in many of the slow cooker dishes I brew up and also my chili is salsa based.

Lots of good seasoning mixes here.

You can, as well, mix your own seasoning , buying what you like and mixing as you prepare meals.

Or, see what ingredients you like in a pre made mix, then buy them separately and mix when wanted. I think some have their own secret ingredients too that they allude to but not mention outright , but normally they do list them all.

I'll bet a very large portion of all these mixes are... garlic, onion, salt, and pepper.

Of you are looking for seasonings with lower salt/sugar content, these are really good as well.

I have a pretty comprehensive spice rack in the galley and don't have a all purpose seasoning. But salt and fresh ground black pepper as a part of a lot of food I prepare.

Salt, pepper, Tobasco.

The Mrs. uses Old Bay quite a bit so I'll toss it in too.

Another vote here for Tony Chacheres... Johnny's Seasoning Salt is a very close second.

Garlic, lots of it. The trinity and bay leaves go in much of my cooking.

I wonder what percentage of these seasonings that have been mentioned contain monosodium glutamate? It's kind of too bad that so many seasonings need to rely on the fake perception of umami (savory taste) that is created by MSG.

To your original question I'm pretty much a salt and pepper guy. If you looking for something no/salt low/salt. I have to give a shout out to a local place here just up the street from me. It has lots of things spice wise I think folks on T-man would like.
Guy that started this company was my father inlaws band teacher way back in the day.
Give them a look over..
