I'd like to hear, or see some examples of, how you all would secure a 330 in an underwater beaver run that may be several feet deep. You all seem to be pretty crafty when it comes to overcoming a challenge, and in the great big scheme of things this one seems as though it would be common place.

Just viewed a video on the tubes where a gent took a deep water h- stand and welded up extensions on the up rights . I’ll see if I can find it. Sam woods outdoors - fast track to beaver trapping ,around the 54:30 minute. Looking at it now I think he made em from scratch.

Take 2 straight dead sticks of needed length, whatever that may be. (I've used over 8 footers before). Wire them together near one end to make an upside down V. Now set your 330 and run the free ends of the sticks through the springs. Use 1 wire just below the trap to pull the sticks towards each other to lock the trap into position. Now the whole works can be dropped into deep water runs. Make sue you run a long cable up to secure the trap should the beaver break the sticks.
Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

If you want to make a second catch either skip the fencing and set side by side on bottom,or set 2 or 3 in series in the same run, again,on bottom. Stacking a trap on top is a wasted trap.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I'll start by saying I'v never trapped beaver in hard bottoms where I couldent get a pole in. 1-So I find or cut a pole about 2' across, long enough to go into the bottom with 4'above the water. 2-With the pole proge the bottom to find the deepest plase in the run.Now find the sides of the run. 3-Push the pole in deep enough to support the trap. 4- mark the top of the water. 5- put trap (330) on pole through the spring eyes, with the spring eyes bent twards the loose jaws.Set trap with the loose jaws clamping on the pole. 6- push pole with trap clamped on it in the run.So the center of the trap is centered in the run. No blocking needed. The beaver will swim in the center, deepest part of the run.
What about you have a "squaire shy beaver ? 1- pull the pole and trap 2-Support a snare on each side of the trap 3- replace pole with trap and snares

We had a 330 set in a small ditch leading to a beaver dam. First night the trap was sprung but empty, he became trap shy after getting slapped. After 2 more checks and no catch we noticed were he was going up on the bank around the trap about a foot from the 330. So we left the 330 set and placed mb750s on each side of the 330 right were he was going around. Had him the next check.

I usually will use a Comstock 12x18 beaver trap in that situation. Easy to set and use. Just as effective as 330s. That would for me to. As long as I follow my rule. "IF" you CANT read your license plate. YOUR too far from the truck.

I use the H stand that is 48" for deep spots for beaver. If it is too deep for that then it is best to wait for ice and set snares on a pole. For how I do it and works for me. So far the spot I trap now it is just the H stand of 48". I have made some short ones also and work for not only beaver but for otter also. But also just use sticks too when out of H stands.
