When making bait with ground beaver, do you remove all the fat before grinding?

I made some a few years ago and I left all the fat on and I think it gave it a little extra smell rather than just meat

I left the fat on also ! Without a second batch without the fat , it will be hard to know what is best.

The coyote in my neck of the woods don’t seem to eat around the fat on a carcass that’s left out !

I know the target animals eat fat. Since I have never made a paste type bait I just wandered if it would alter consistency or have any effect on preservation. Thanks for the info. Fat stays!!

I don’t know if it will have any bearing on the end result but I preserved this tainted beaver meat and fat with canning salt.

the fat will render down in hot weather and thicken in cold. Winter predators seek fat in there diets adds btus to there body

I do the same also.The coyote dos take it also.Remind me I will need to make more next year the way it looks.
