What do you use?
Baits I use my own homemade
Lures mostly commercial ( just started experimenting with my own a couple seasons ago)
Just a informal poll
Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!
If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

baits my own for every critter I trap. I buy half a dozen commercial lures for k-9s and cats. But the more I experiment the more confidence im getting in my own stuff! Never attempted a food lure for beaver, as territorial as they are I cant see it being better! than a good castor base smell!

I use very little lure, mostly for beaver. With the price of castor nowadays at $90\lb for No.1 I buy beaver lure.
I get enough bladder urine from catches for my trapping needs, and I use some glands from trapped animals for "special occasions".

I have experimented with different baits for k9 but have the best luck with Teepee Creek. I make my own coon baits. I have made my own castor based beaver lure that also works great on coyotes and seems to attract deer too. Im going to continue to test the deer theory this fall with trail cams.

I make a few but I depend on well formulated lures from fine craftsmen, with access to high grade ingredients.
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..

Had a guy tell me deer were attracted to bto as well!Which doesn't surprise me as curious as they are.

My thoughts are if glands and musk is added to bait it becomes lure that tastes bad. Good bait for me is just preserved meat and fat aged or fresh that tastes good to them any way. There are some available commercially. If I want lure at a baited set I'll add it on site.
I'm not nocking bait with adds, they do work, just what my preference has evolved to from my own experience.
