I bought some Duke 160 last year and when set I can hit the triggers with a stake pretty forceably and they just swing back and forth not snapping the trap. How do I adjust these so they'll actually snap?

Place the trigger in a vice and smash the top of the trigger with a hammer so it is flat or take a round file and deepen the dog notches.

Well I tried flattening the trigger and they still swing freely it pushes the dog up like it should but the dog still gets caught and won't let the jaws loose.

Next thing to do is take a nail and jam it into the notch of the trigger and pop that outwards on both sizes

Judiciously file off the corner of the dog notch that releases the jaw.

I smashed one flat as I could get it out of frustration lol still same deal triggers just keep going dog raises slightly but catches and doesn't allow it to fire until the trigger is at a 90 from where it is set. I'm going to try to file the dog like boco says I'm assuming it's catching on the corners in the dog notches. I don't really care if I ruin them honestly I water trap coon I bought a dozen of these to have something different to look at besides pockets, dog proofs, and 220s all day lol.

Does it have a loose trigger on every Dog Notch?

If you file too much off,and they wont stay set, take a chainsaw file and deepen the notch, then file the dog flat again and start over.

Yep didn't matter which notch it would still swing and I could take a stake and push the trigger wires 90 degrees before snapping.

If you do what Boco tells you and they still don't work,I myself would call the place you got them and maybe get them replaced. Keep us updated and I hope they work for you

Do what Boco said —they will work but be careful when setting after that particularly in cold weather.

Got a close-up picture of the set trap. Specifically the dog/trigger.

I also tap a nail in the dogs' gap either side of the jaw to make it trip faster.

I wouldn't take all the travel away depending on your target critter. I like a little travel on my 160 triggers when using in cubbys for coons. It lets them get further in for a perfect behind the ear catch.
