I picked up a new location today and was out scouting. Found a place where coons, deer, and yotes are all crossing a small creek through a bunch of cattails. The ground is really mucky and would probably be hard to stake anything effectively.

My first thought is to set 160s on H stands for coon and they transition over to cable restraints for coyotes once the ground freezes.

So here is my question: Where is the best place to set this?

1. Right on the edge where they get to the water

or

2. a foot off the bank when they have commited to the water.

Interested in hearing how you would do it and why.

Personally id use the 160s dry. If foothold I'd set we're they first step in the water and use a drag. 160s might preserve the cattails better though. You could set up the footholds with sliders to get them away from your good cattail trail too. If you could get them in!

I'd get a long rebar and stake a DP on a drowner set.

The water isn't deep enough to set a drowner.

Think I'm going with trail 160s.
