With my colony traps I can catch up to 6 rats and I have taken 12 In one. But of coarse I can't use 9x9 x30s here In WI So even with a 6x6x20 I could catch 4 or 5 rats at a time. And I only have to find 2 or 3 locations not 12. LOL Sorry guys but I'm not spending all my time looking for the perfect spot for a 110 B&E set. While I can be gang setting with # 2coils and catch most of the rats before they even get to those perfect B&E locations.
Is a channel set for beaver with a 330 considered a B&E set? I always take the guess work out of otter and beaver trapping by setting where they are traveling not where you think they might be traveling.
Just for argument sake. I bet I could go on a stream with another trapper and He would use B&E sets and I would use something different. You want to make a bet on who would catch the most rats. Yeah, I probably overstated my case a wee bit. So for my sins I'll grant you 2 1/2 rats per mini-colony trap, each of which would be sticking out like sore thumbs at your points along the bank. So that would give you 7 1/2 rats and one retarded mink.

....dragging a trailer full of colony traps. It's easier that way!

I'm still waiting for the catch rate on rats during your rat season when using B&E sets with some type of body grip. I'm betting It's a very low percentage compared to regular type rat sets.

I wouldn't waste my time. You can catch every rat that swims the creek with a well placed kick with your boot. A bit a lure and a #2 trap set In front of It. Come to WV and try to kick a pocket set in with your boot. You are going to limp back to the truck with a broken toe and hurt feelings.

I can check BEs under ice without chopping ice. Not good to mention Gimmicks on here though.
Use younses Smythe books to start a fire and melt the ice lol.
It's ok to see outside your own lines, and keep an open mind but not so open your brains fall out.

You still have to chop them out to retrieve your catch.
I've used B&E sets but It's not a go to set around this area. I might be able to find 2 or 3 spots On any on stream around here. So spending time looking for those spots Is time consuming and not real productive In the overall scheme of productive rat trapping.
