Can someone post a picture of such a set? I have a spot with a dog in the area. I'd like to set a 160 BG in a wire cubbie, but my better judgement tells me that may not be a wise idea. It's a good location though for a dp conibear set, where the coon has to set off the dp in order for the conibear to go off. I don't know any person or business selling this setup (I suspect people home make them).

If it has to set off the DP to set off the coni. Why use a coni. His foot is in a DP already. Right?

It has the advantage of a BG but the safety of a DP.
You're right in that the BG aspect isn't necessary. The quick action benefit of the BG is why I think some guys use them.

I should have mentioned: I'm referring to a spot where it's possible others could see the animal moving around in a dp.

im not understanding the reasoning behind this! So your saying you want to double catch it. I don't get the logic of tying up two traps for one critter. Im sure you got a reason help us understand

Sounds like he doesn't want to possibly catch the dog but also doesn't want a live coon making ramen. Anyhow someone here actually had a 220 stat up that was completely dog proof, I'll lol around and see if I cn find it

I know a well known trapper that circumvents the law by doing something similar. He catches the coon In a foot hold. Then has a 160 box within reach. The coon dives Into the box Is killed and the 24 hour check laws don't come into play.
I'm betting that if you staked down a fair sized box and gave that DP caught coon enough chain It would be hiding In that box when you showed up.

A 12" roof/overhang on the cubby has kept me from catching several dogs IME.

Largely I don't want a coon dancing around for all to see. There's spots, even in some backyards, where people wouldn't notice a coon in a BG, but if it was wrestling around a catch circle they could.

So why not just an elevated 160 in a box?

Is a coon hanging from a 160 in a tree too visible?

I've thought of this. It'd be an option in certain situations.

Could be, in some situations. Though it's 1 option.

What state is that in Beav?

It's In a state that has no check laws on Dry land BGs.

The Inverted bucket set is for sure dog proof but It's also pretty much coon proof.
