Hello folks... I am building a horizontal skinner, but I am not sure what winch would be be best for the this rig. I have a table made from 2 x 12s and all the rest of the hardware ready to go... I hear that an ATV winch is the popular choice. I will have a dedicated outlet for the winch as well. What size and make of winch would you guys suggest for this rig? Thanks a pile! Joel

ATV winch runs on 12 volts.
I would get the 440 size from Harbor Freight. It is 120 volt and has plenty of power. That is what I use on my vertical.

Thank you Sir, for the insight. I was thinking I had to convert an ATV winch! I see where it is listed as an electric Hoist, not a winch. Found the 440 hoist for 100 bucks and will be ordering it in the a.m. Thanks again!

Hi-line be sure to use the 20% off coupon. I just ordered one and it was $86 shipped. It's a good deal. Now I just need to make up the rest of my system.

Can you not get away with one of these and avoid the cost of a battery?

ADC What's the code? And while we're at it could you do a tutorial on how to build one of these set ups? Just a suggestion!

Either way works fine. I prefer straight pull, not doubled for speed.

I run mine doubled. I think it gives me better control on cold coyotes. If I was just skinning coon, I would probably opt to run single for speed.
