I was wondering if any one deer hunts and trap the same area. Our trapping season and hunting season are at the same time. Just wondering if it would hurt the deer hunting. What do yall think.

I wait until after deer season to trap my property. Based on what I read on here, I think if you did a poll most posters on here would say go ahead and trap. I know a lot of hunters that feel differently. I guess you'll have to weigh the situation and make a decision and go with it. It could depend some on the property, or it's owner. If it's a farm where animals are used to people, maybe that could impact your decision, I don't know. It sounds like if you want to trap in your state, it has to be during deer hunting, so if you have time I'd say do both.

Fairly new to trapping but I’m going to try it. That one of the things that excited me. Sometimes deer season gets slow and boring when everyone is holding out for a big buck and they aren’t showing. At least if you bag a few coon or coyotes it gives you something to do back at camp at the end of the day.

I go outside the Lines of where I know people are Deer Hunting and set Snares for Coyotes and Fox as it is very common for Deer Hunters to push out the Canines while pushing the Deer. I DO NOT go on the Land they are hunting, only in the Row.

I make some sets during bow season, we check with ATV’s, I feel any buck in the area will sit tight or use a natural escape route without being startled. During gun season, I only set weasel boxes on our trails leading to stands, easily checked without kicking deer off bedding areas in the early morning hours.

Land owners choice - some land owners hunt deer and I work my schedule around them...99% of the time they are accommodating!

I hold off on land that is being hunted til after the season. Too many times traps and/or animals have gone missing when a hunter finds it before I do. Sure I might miss out on a few good catches but I prevent a lot of headaches but waiting a few days and concentrate on land that's not being hunted. Just my 2 cents worth.

I hunt deer and run my rabbit hound in the same places I trap. I will pull off my snares(can't foot trap in my state) if I am running my hound, the reason is I don't want a chased stopped because the hound got stopped by my snare and mess my cable up. the dog is always ok but I lost a rabbit LOL

I trap in the same area I bow hunt. I am usually checking traps either on the way to the stand or on the way back.
