Just cut up a deer and a lot of little scraps. I bagged them up thinking I might use them on the line. Would you use them, as is, or buy some bait solution. I took some deer meat last year and used bait solution. It worked ok. Just seeing what some of you thought. These scraps are mainly tendons, fat and silver skin. Obviously has some meat on it too. Advice appreciated.

Coyotes find most of there food by using there noise, so if it smell like deer, it must be deer, so us it in your sets.

Excellent bait for many fur bearers surpassed by beaver only.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I've thrown deer down a hole that still smelled like the previous bait I used. It caught quick. Have a buddy that has mixed a bunch of ground deer in with other bait this year to stretch the commercial stuff out a little further. Im sure he will do well with it, too. I've never had much luck with beaver when it came to coyotes, but did really well with it for bobcat and coon.

I have tried deer before and had horrible luck with it. There are tons of carcasses around during deer season. I rarely see them eaten by predators either, its usually just buzzards and possums. Ive also had poor luck with beaver meat. Ive tried it over and over with the same results. Now cat meat and small game like rabbits and chicken works well for me. I will try some deer liver this year though, i suspect it will work well. I know beaver liver works well. I have only caught 18 coyotes in the past 2 weeks using cat meat.

Don't trash the skeleton. Hang it in a tree from a limb or tie it to the tree trunk about 5' high, wait until the buzzards lose interest, then gang set a big circle under it. An IR black trail camera will tell the story.

Don't want to sound like I'm lecturing but...

I think in a lot of states that will result in a game violation. It's also going to result in a lot of non-target catches.

Lil easier to toss it in a patch of high grass and set the trails leading to it . Setting blind sets in the trails some 20' or so feet back will midigate your chances of getting a bussard or birds of prey

If the deer doesn't freeze it should work ok. Success will go down if it freezes like a rock.
