Well I guess I goofed a little and never got to making any waxed dirt. I have a few bottles of flake type antifreeze from F&T that I bought with a bunch of used traps and I was curious if this would satisfy my needs?
Or I could order some waxed dirt which is expensive and I’d have to wait for it to ship or remake all my sets when I got it.
I put in a few sets last night with the antifreeze. Should it be sprinkled over a finished set? Mixed into the dirt while sifting?
Calling for a few inches of snow followed by rain the next few days.

Add it layers as you bed the trap. Then a layer on top, but if it rains enough to soak the ground you'll need to do it again.

Common sense catches alot of fur..
Pay homage to all you harvest..

Flake is very corrosive. I used it one year and I believe it even ate the wax off the traps. I won't use it again. Good luck to you.

Wish I had more time to trap....

I won't use it. It's too hard on the metal.

Maybe try propylene glycol, mixed 50% with h20.

After the rain you might consider trying peat moss.

Ok thanks for the help.
I guess I will order some wax or peat.

Reusaat sells waxed sand. Don't rule that out.

If your traps are properly waxed it works great. I would hate to see the amount needed to eat wax away from trap. Only issue is with a remake, at this point most wax will be worn off from the catch.
