So, how do you all do this? I have read about putting marshmallows and rubber baits on the triggers. There is no way that I can get two fingers down there to put anything on. I have mostly fb one and two traps and some z-traps. Would like to give it a try this year but can not seem to find and easy way to do it.

I have caught them with out it but it seems like it may help to catch the few that don't like the feel of cold steel.

Thanks for the help.

Shove marshmallow under it , use knife blade if necessary, easy peasy

I have mostly dukes but I use one hand on the outside of the trap and tip the trigger as far as possible towards the open end of the trap. Then drop in a standard marshmallow push it down onto the trigger as you tip the trigger back deeper into the trap again. Hope that makes sense. It doesn't necessarily have to be impaled on the trigger as long as most of it ends up under the trigger. No way they can pull it out without tripping the trap. I do this even if I'm using a different bait on top of the marshmallow as it really gives them something to grab on to.

Buy your DPs from Kendall, they come with a rubber stopper already on the trigger.

If I need any more I may do just that. However I have about 5 dozen fb1,2 and z traps. For now that is way more than I plan on setting. I read of people putting things on the triggers and thought I would try it.

Stale marshmallows are easier to work with and less sticky when pushing on the trigger. Impaled marshmallows is all I use in DP's.

If your thinking of using a plastic fishing bait like a twister tail , grub or crawfish just use a pair of needle nose pliers. Worked for us !

Get the Big air puffed marshmellows. Impale right on the trigger and bait /set trap. nothing to it. You can always use sheeps wool with oil or bait on it. gives them a good texture to grab and work.
