I would paint them but, I only have 1 week until season starts. Not sure that's enough time to air out.

I don't boil them at all, but I will hang them out for a year and let them dull up with oxidation. They'll blend right in.

I run my snares threw the dishwasher. I then put them in the oven on low heat to dry them out really well and to warm them up. While they are warming up I bring some water to a boil in a good sized pot on the stove. I put my cans of spray paint I in the boiling water to get the paint nice and warm.
I let the snares get pretty warm in the oven hot enough I can’t touch em..... When both the snares and paint are warm I take them out side and paint them ASAP. Doing it ASAP with a warm bundle of snares makes the paint almost instantly dry to the snare.
Doing it this way is fast. You can handle the freashly painted snares almost instantaneously after your done spraying them. The heat also gases off the paint smell. No hanging them out do get the smell off. Also no sticky paint on the snares.
Use some brains.... Don’t forget your paint boiling on the stove!
This is the only way I could figure out how to camo snares in a hurry without smell or soft paint.

God bless

Dustin

Take some maple or oak leaves, put them in a bucket. Cover with water and put your snares in and it will stain them. The longer the leaves are in the bucket the darker and fast it will stain. So keep an eye on how dark staining you want! I have a couple of buckets of leaves ready through the fall. I use this method for my metal stakes also. Someone will say walnut hulls, tried that, NOPE. I think the tanic acid from the leaves reacts with the cable and stains so well. I feel, cant prove it, that also help to deodorizes. Never seen were it caused any problems. ED

Plenty of time! Just a LIGHT DUSTING of camo paint. I've set them the same day I painted them and caught coyotes, coons and fox.

Darken them, THIS TIME, with a magic marker.
Quit boiling them, and just paint them a couple colors in the summer and hang to air out.

Good advice from everyone thanks. I went ahead and set them as is. I got 5 snares out yesterday. No coyotes on this morning check. A few of them knocked down though. Deer, most likely. But, while resetting them, I noticed the poly tubing is losing it's opaque color. Changing back to clear.
